Last week I talked about Slappy our male red eared slider turtle. He had been pestering our lady turtles so we moved him to his own bachelor pad. Here’s the latest on the ladies.
A few months ago we took in three red eared sliders which we named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. These ladies have been hanging out in the big blue tub while we were working on the new turtle space. However since Slappy is in the new space we decided to see if they would get along with our other lady turtles.
Miss Tortuga, Dorothy, Blanche, and Aurora have been in our original turtle area for a few years. When we moved into our current home it had a small courtyard off one of the bedrooms so naturally we used the space for animals. We put in three ponds, fill dirt, and fake grass.
Once we removed Slappy we introduced the new ladies to our longtime residents. Just as we had hoped they checked each other out and have been living happily together. Miss Tortuga decided to reside in the smallest of the ponds enjoying her quiet time.
During the day all the ladies can be found sunning on their ramps or the grass. As you can see from the pictures they like to line up in the same direction. It’s a turtle-ly happy ending for all our red eared sliders. Thank you for reading and have a happy animal filled day! 🙂 Mrs. Zoo
